The Geomatics Department at Université Laval celebrated its 110th birthday in 2017 and hasn’t stopped evolving since its foundation in 1907. Surveying is one of the oldest scientific disciplines taught at Université Laval.
Today, with its team of professors and researchers working in all the disciplines of geomatics, its wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs, its numerous groups, centres and research chairs, the Department is internationally recognized as an agent of progress and a leader in the field of geomatics. Its members work with stakeholders from all disciplines to integrate geospatial into the core of society’s day-to-day activities. They train professionals capable of moving from the scientific and technical complexity of measurements to the simplicity of geospatial models used by all and of concretizing invisible lines for the maintenance of a peaceful human society.
